Assembly, cleanup and blade storage

Processor setup is part of the meal-prep routine. A work bowl, drive adapter, blade or disc, lid, latch and pusher must seat correctly before the motor runs. When a machine uses several interlocks, a missed assembly step can look like a fault even though the components are not fully aligned.

Assemble before plugging in

The KFP1317–KFP1320 manual says to place the machine on a dry, level counter, assemble the bowl and selected cutting tool, close and latch the cover, and have the large pusher installed. It also warns owners not to defeat the lid interlock. Read the model manual before first use and keep hands away from moving blades and discs.

For the dicing kit, the manual describes a particular order: the base, blade and cover sit inside the work bowl, with the kit cover aligned to the wide feed opening. Use the specified smaller or medium pusher for the food and clean the grid with the supplied tool after removing the parts. The French-fry disc is a different cutting attachment; switch tools only with the machine off and unplugged as directed.

Clean the right parts the right way

The reviewed manual says removable parts are top-rack dishwasher-safe, but it gives care details: do not lay the bowl on its side, dry parts thoroughly and avoid high-temperature cycles. The base is not a dishwasher part and should not be immersed. Product-page quick-clean instructions for the bowl are not a reason to leave food or moisture in a stored assembly.

Sharp accessories need deliberate handling even when they are clean. Let the appliance stop, unplug it before removing parts, and avoid placing blades directly on the base. Use the included clean-out tool for its intended task rather than pushing fingers through a grid.

Give accessories a storage routine

The family includes an in-bowl storage caddy for discs and blades, but the exact package changes. KFP1318 lists the standard tools and caddy; KFP1319 adds a dicing kit and a refrigerator lid; KFP1320 adds both a dicing kit and a French-fry disc. The lid is for the bowl between tasks and is not a substitute for the latched work cover during operation.

Before choosing a larger package, ask whether the additional tool will be used often enough to store and wash. The KFP1319 assessment and KFP1320 assessment explain those accessory tradeoffs.
