A useful fit for

A current U.S. fit when a 16-cup main bowl, a larger distributor-listed dough/blending/produce task amount than the 4200XL, and an included citrus press answer regular needs, while the same 12-cup midi and 6-cup mini bowls remain useful.

The main tradeoff

The larger body is 17.5 inches high, and the fixed 2/4 mm discs do not adjust or dice. A separate dicing/fry attachment is not in the standard box. The exact U.S. listing does not establish a continuous-on time limit or top-rack-specific care. Refurbished SKU 18511US-R1 is a separate sold-out row; current new-package warranty language is not a refurb warranty.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need a 16-cup main bowl while retaining 12- and 6-cup bowls?

The 5200XL page lists nested main/midi/mini capacities of 16, 12 and 6 cups; task amounts remain smaller for specific jobs.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the published bread-dough amount meet a 2.5 lb minimum?

The NutriMill comparison table lists 2.6 lb for the 5200XL. That is total dough weight, not flour cups.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is a citrus press included in this standard package?

Yes. The exact U.S. 5200XL Chrome package lists the citrus juicer attachment; the 4200XL does not include it standard.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you require adjustable slice thickness?

The 5200XL includes fixed 2 and 4 mm discs, not an adjustable slicer; a specific adjustable-disc need excludes it.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the listed 17½-inch body fit a strict 17-inch storage maximum?

No. The exact page lists 17½ inches, before additional access clearance for the pusher and lid.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must the manual confirm a continuous-on interval of at least 60 seconds?

The product page lists Stop/Auto/Pulse but no numeric run ceiling, so an essential 60-second minimum remains unknown.

The larger main bowl keeps the same two smaller bowls

The U.S. NutriMill listing identifies the Magimix Cuisine System 5200XL Chrome as a 16-cup main-bowl processor with a 12-cup midi bowl and a 6-cup mini bowl. In this family, the larger model does not enlarge every nested vessel: the 4200XL's midi and mini ratings are also 12 and 6 cups. What changes is the main bowl and the task amounts published beside it. That distinction matters if your shopping question is “Will my large prep fit?” rather than simply “Which model number is bigger?” It also means you can retain a smaller bowl setup for a small chopping or disc task instead of making every job use the 16-cup container.

The exact current U.S. listing identifies Chrome SKU 18511US and 120-volt operation. NutriMill's Magimix collection shows this as a current 5200XL package. A separate refurbished Chrome row uses SKU 18511US-R1 and is marked sold out when observed. This review describes the functional 5200XL package and separately records the refurb identity; a refurbished offer is not the same purchase condition, and its specific terms need checking before any transaction.

A complete set for several kinds of prep

The U.S. package lists an XL feed tube and triple pusher, the three bowls, a mini blade, the stainless-steel knife blade, a BlenderMix ring, a dough blade, an egg whisk, 2 mm and 4 mm slicing discs, 2 mm and 4 mm grating discs, a spatula, a citrus juicer attachment, and an instruction/recipe book. The retailer describes the disc pairs as fine/thick slicing and fine/thick grating. They are fixed-size separate discs, not adjustable thickness controls. This is a practical distinction for someone who wants repeatable set cuts and doesn't mind choosing and storing separate discs. It is a limitation for a cook who specifically needs a single dial or lever to change slice thickness.

The 5200XL's included citrus press is a real package difference from the standard 4200XL listing, where that attachment is optional. If fresh citrus is an essential job and you do not want to add a separate accessory, the 5200XL is the configuration in this U.S. family that meets that in-box requirement. Conversely, buying a 16-cup processor merely to gain a citrus press may not make sense if your work is smaller or if you do not need its larger task capacities. The separate NutriMill category also lists a Dicing & French Fry attachment; the 5200XL package list itself does not include it. A regular slicing disc is not a grid dicer or a French-fry cutter.

Compare actual task limits, not only 16 cups

NutriMill's model comparison table lists a 2.6-pound bread-dough amount, 3.3 pounds of pastry dough, 7.6 cups for blending, 3 pounds of chopped meat, 3 pounds of grated carrots and eight egg whites for the 5200XL. The same table gives the 4200XL lower amounts for those jobs. These entries are useful exact-task comparisons, not a guarantee that any recipe can be scaled to the full bowl volume. The dough figures are stated in pounds of dough, not cups of flour; the page does not describe recipe formula or turn those amounts into an ingredient-based universal maximum. If you need a particular loaf formula, consult the instructions for the U.S. unit and scale only within their directions.

The nested layout supports separate small, disc and main-bowl jobs, but it does not mean every attachment works in every vessel. NutriMill describes the midi bowl for accessory discs and the mini for small ingredients. For a wet blend, the table's 7.6-cup blending amount is more useful than the 16-cup bowl rating.

Counter footprint, controls and care

The published body dimensions are 8¼ inches wide by 10¾ inches deep by 17½ inches high, and the U.S. page lists 1,100 watts. The controls are Stop, Auto and Pulse. The exact listing does not provide a numeric continuous-on interval, so it cannot pass a shopper's strict minimum run-time requirement. Check overhead room for the tall feed tube and pusher as well as the body height; a machine may fit under a cabinet only when the pusher is removed, and the published size is not a clearance measurement. The page says removable parts are dishwasher-safe and the base should be wiped with a damp cloth. It states a 30-year motor guarantee and three years on parts with labor and replacements; those are the current new-package terms, not a refurbished warranty promise.

When does the 5200XL earn the larger footprint?

Choose the 5200XL if your regular batches benefit from the 16-cup main bowl, the higher table-listed amounts, or the included citrus press, and you have storage and counter clearance for its published height. The 4200XL is the 14-cup alternative: same 12/6-cup smaller bowls, lower listed task amounts, no citrus press in the standard box and a shorter 16¾-inch body. The older 3200XL is smaller again, but only its refurbished U.S. listing was observed and that page showed it sold out; it remains a reference rather than a current purchase recommendation. The family comparison guide puts all three packages side by side. For the 4200XL's fixed discs and exact finish rows, read its separate assessment.

This review is based on the exact U.S. listing and product-family comparison material, not ownership or bench testing. The archived manufacturer image visibly identifies a 5200XL Chrome base and its Stop/Auto/Pulse labels, but the image's transparent/cutout composition has a dark rectangular artifact behind the clear feed area. Its photo/render process is undisclosed, so it is illustrative rather than proof of performance or of every in-box component.

Choose a tool set for your usual prep.

Compare exact tools and manual limits: Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus DLC-2A and DLC-4CHB, CCH-3, ECH-4SV and MCH-4 Chop/Grind batches; Hamilton Beach 70450 bowl and reversible-disc tasks; the 70510’s documented bowl-based smoothie method and slicing disc; FP-5 and FP-7 bowls; the FP-9CF continuous-feed setup; KitchenAid choppers; and larger processors. Hamilton Beach 70585 adds a 14-cup bowl, nested 4-cup chop/puree bowl, a dough blade for up to 4 cups flour and top-rack care; compare its separate task caps before batch prep. For a 10-cup bowl with a lid-operated scraper, compare the Hamilton Beach 70730J; its scraper is limited to blade work, and the manual rules out kneading dough, ice crushing and grinding. Hamilton Beach 70723G adds a 10-cup Stack & Snap package with a two-minute manual motor-on limit; it has no dough blade or scraper. The Hamilton Beach 70740G offers an eight-cup bowl with a reversible disc; its manual limits produce and cheese batches below the headline bowl size and rules out dough, ice-crushing and dry-grinding. The white 70733 adds a page-listed 10-cup scraper package, but its linked manual labels 70730/70731; do not carry those operating limits over. Compare it only for exact page-backed tools and keep top-rack, scraper/disc compatibility and task limits unknown. Breville adds two nine-cup choices: the Sous Chef 9 BFP610 has an adjustable slicer and dough blade without a standard-box dicing grid, while the Paradice 9 BFP638 includes a half-inch dicing kit. Compare the two Breville nine-cup packages by tool list, manual care and listed body height. Compare Breville’s current Paradice 12 BFP738 and Paradice 16 BFP838 by their distinct bowl sizes, dicing grids, included mini bowl and fry disc in the Paradice 12-versus-16 guide. Compare the BFP800 Pro, BFP810 and BFP820 Peel & Dice by their separate packages in the Sous Chef 16 family guide: the included grid, peeler and mini-bowl details change the answer. Ninja TotalCrush IQ801BK is a three-vessel hybrid with one 8-cup processor bowl, a separate 72-ounce pitcher and a separate 24-ounce tumbler; compare its chopping/dough tool list with CrushBOSS slice/shred/crinkle and dicing packages. Braun EasyPrep package choices also differ: FP3101BK lists one fixed 4 mm reversible slicing/grating disc; FP3211SI lists fixed 2 mm and 4 mm discs plus a dough tool; CH3012BK is the small chopper with a listed mayonnaise accessory and separate 0.5 L working-capacity figure. Vitamix SmartPrep systems combine an Ascent blender with a separate SELF-DETECT processor attachment: X2 has three blender programs, X4 itemizes julienne and veggie-stick discs, and X5 lists ten blender programs but the standard processor discs. X5 Deluxe adds a blending cup-and-bowl kit, not a second processor bowl. The attachment manual sets 12 cups dry, 8 wet and a three-minute continuous-use ceiling. Oster adds a white six-cup blender and three-cup processor attachment in SAP 2197995; compare that format with the glass-jar 6878 chopper and the ten-cup 2142993 bowl processor in the Oster package guide. Proctor Silex has two earlier sizes worth distinguishing: the 72706 is a three-cup mini processor with an oil-dispenser lid and small-quantity adjuster, while the 70810 is a nine-cup Quick Clean model with a reversible slice/shred disc. Both exact pages say No Longer Available; their manuals do not support every task a larger bowl might suggest.
